I just finished reading a book that will scare the pants off you. Although I don't particularly like thrillers, I read this book because the information obtained In "The Threat Closer to Home: Hugo Chavez and the War Against America" is not a fictionalized thriller but a frightening book about a real threat to our country. This is a book written by Doug Schoen and Michael Rowan. The authors are both political consultants who operate on the world stage and have advised and consulted with major world leaders. Most of us can only imagine what they know about how what's really going on in the halls of power. Doug Schoen has advised heads of state in nineteen countries, and major corporations including President Clinton during his 1996 presidential re-election contest. His co-author, Mr. Rowan has been a consultant for 26 winning political candidates in the U.S. and 13 foreign countries, and has been a newspsper columnist in Venezuela.
Their book exposes the hatred that Hugo Chavez has for the USA , why he hates us and how he has plotted to destroy us. Although Chavez is an intelligent, articulate, charming person, he is also a megalomaniac, financial supporter of terror organizations, destroyer of his country through communist rule and is hell bent on destroying us. Reading about his maneuverings and plots was really quite terrifying. I suggest you buy this book and read it also so we citizens know what is really going on in Latin America. We don't hear much on the news about our Latin American neighbors to the south because in the last 50 years, the US has largely ignored them. There is however, much we should know.
Don't read this book right before you go to bed or you'll have nightmares. But do read it!!
I couldn't put the book down and finished it in a day. It is one that I will keep in my library and refer to again and again because Schoen and Rowan present ideas for how we can avoid succumbing to Chavez's plots. Schoen and Rowan outline a plan to support our allies, develop solutions to our immigrant issue, create successful economies, mutually beneficial relationships, and peaceful communities in Latin America. I was so relieved to find out that there is a way out of our situation with Chavez. Alarmingly, the US must act quickly because there isn't much time to loose,
As for me, I plan to write my Senators and Congressmen and advise them to read this book. Hopefully Messrs. Schoen and Rowan themselves will also be in contact with our Federal legislative bodies encouraging them to pay attention to a potential crisis for which there is, thankfully, a solution.
